From TVbythenumbers.com:
Lost pulled a record low for new episodes, at least in the 18-49 demographic where it entered the sub-4.0 range with a 3.7/9 and only 8.29 million viewers.  This can’t be chalked up to being hit harder by Idol than last week, because Idol was down from last week too. And it can’t really be chalked up to the 8pm comedy block lead-in because that was pretty much on par with last week (even though the 18-49 numbers for both Scrubs and Better Off Ted were likely series lows for original airings).

From TVbythenumbers.com:
Over on ABC, Scrubs (1.9/6) outperformed Better Off Ted (1.8/5) and Lost (4.2/10) came in second to American Idol (8.1/20) at 9pm. Although Lost went head-to-head with American Idol, it was the second most-watched program with adults 18-49 for the night.

TVbythenumbers.com reports:
The 9pm hour had a lot of viewing between Idol, Criminal Minds (14 million and a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating) and Lost. Lost dipped below 9 million (4.0 adults 18-49 rating) and posted another series low, but it’s nothing to worry about since it will have no impact on its renewal prospects for next year.
TV Guide reports:
9 pm: American Idol’s results show delivered 23 million viewers, slipping 7 percent week-to-week. Criminal Minds followed with 13.5 mil, down a half mil. Lost’s numbers weren’t terribly groovy, dropping 14 percent to an all-time low of 9.08 mil. (Next week, Sawyer & Co. face an even tougher hurdle: Idol’s Obama-cized, two-hour performance show!)Â Life also took a plunge, to 4.22 mil.

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel noticed that the smoke monster wasn’t stopped just because there was no new episode of LOST. Take a look:
TVbythenumbers.com reports:
The Lost vs. Lie to Me duel that looked so interesting earlier in the season now is only much of a battle in terms of total viewers. In the youth demos, Lost is now winning handily. Lie to Me will drop some in the finals due to American Idol overrun, and it’s half hour drops are still fairly noteworthy. It dropped from 11.14 million the first half with a 3.9/10 (rating/share) in adults 18-49 to 9.24 million in the second half hour with a 3.3/8.
Lost fares better with 1970s themed episode than the already canceled (but will air its final episodes) Life on Mars.  Not up against American Idol this week, Lost bounced back up from a 4.4 to a 4.8 rating in adults 18-49. But a little bit of Lost overrun (I think, I wasn’t paying attention to times last night) helped the Life on Mars numbers below. LOM opened with 6.28 million and a 2.5/7 in 18-49s, but dropped to 5.03 million and a 1.7/5 the last half hour.
From TVbythenumbers.com:
[...] American Idol dominated the 9pm hour too, though it was a more competitive hour against new episodes of Lost and Criminal Minds (and Life). Lost which had risen nicely in the demos last week (to a 5.1 among 18-49s) dropped back down to the two weeks ago level when it drew a 4.4. Lost was remarkable consistent numerically for both half hours.
