RE: CONFIRMATION OF LAUNCH DATE FOR VOLUNTEER TESTING
I am pleased to announce that, following an extensive security audit of all departments within the Dharma Initiative, I am totally satisfied that DharmaWantsYou.com is now secure. As a result I am able to confirm a date for the commencement of our latest volunteer testing program.
Visit www.dharmawantsyou.com to confirm the launch date.
I have heard from many of you in recent weeks via email asking what will be assessed in the program and what the nature of our latest research is. I have found your enthusiasm and relentless curiosity extremely endearing. However, in the interests of maintaining the integrity of the testing process, I cannot be forthcoming on these enquiries.
Despite this, I would like to affirm to you all that I am extremely optimistic about these upcoming evaluations and believe that they will yield recruits of the highest caliber.
Good luck to all applicants.
Together we can guide the world to a better tomorrow.
Namaste,
Hans Van Eeghen
Head of Recruiting
The Dharma Initiative
Usually this type of information does not get out, but some how it seems to have leaked and now the media has picked it up.
Apparently Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly are in the process of renegotiating their contracts (currently $150K/episode)and as word was leaked the supporting actor’s agents have also asked to start negotiations as well.
Hopefully this will not become an issue and ABC will handle it with care.
Here are the details:
Call it Operation Oceanic Two.
ABC Studios, which produces the ABC drama “Lost,” has quietly started renegotiations with stars Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly to beef up their paychecks, currently at about $150,000 per episode.
However, word of the talks leaked out by Friday, prompting reps for some of the other regulars to call the studio to open their own renegotiations. The majority of the “Lost” supporting players are in the $80,000-90,000 per episode range.

Tags: Evangeline Lilly, Jack, Kate, Matthew Fox, Season 5Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof provided a glimpse into Season 5 at the standing room only event attended by over 6500 faithful Lost fans, many of whom had spent the night in line waiting for this moment.
At the panel, the producers indicated that with Lost now over four years old, financial backing was important and they were pleased to have received sponsorship going forward from the Dharma Initiative.
Hans Van Egan, Dharma’s head of recruiting was introduced to provide a highlight of the recruiting efforts. Mr. Egan indicated that Dharma was looking for top quality men and women and had undergone an extensive campaign of testing via ASRs (Aptitude Suitability and Readiness test). He indicated that to the crowd that the results of the recruitment effort were – Abysmal!
However they did find five individuals up to the standards of Dharma. These were introduced to the crowd and then taken back to the main floor to the Dharma booth for additional instruction.
Damon and Carlton then opened up the panel to questions form the audience. A summary of the Q&A follows but beware, these do contain a limited amount of spoiler information:
Just about at that time, one of the successful Dharma recruits, Dan Bronson, burst onto stage interrupting the discussion. He was visibly upset saying that after 4 seasons the crowd deserved “some freaking answers”. He held a video recorded up and demanded to have its content shown to the audience. After a brief commotion, the lights dimmed and his video of his recent time in the Dharma both was shown:
Following the unnerving details, which only led to even more questions for the stunned audience, Hans Van Egan rushed on stage yelling that the executive producers had made a mockery of his organization. Egan left in a flurry saying that he was pulling Dharma’s sponsorship of the Lost television series.
And with that, the panel discussion ended! You can watch the video of the entire panel recorded by another fan here.
From San Diego at Comic-Con International, namaste to as sl-LOST members and readers.

LOST writers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse talked yesterday about the upcoming season, the Oceanic 6, Jin’s fate, and the Writers Strike. This is the summing up of what they said:
ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson told reporters that Lost will make up for the three episodes that didn’t make it to air last season because of the writers’ strike.
“They were supposed to do 17 this year, actually,” McPherson said in a news conference at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 16. “They aired 14.”
The upcoming fifth season will feature 17 episodes when it kicks off in January 2009. McPherson said that the show has 48 episodes left before the series ends in 2010.
“They’re kind of still doing the story arcs and figuring that out,” McPherson said, referring to Lost’s producers. “But we will do the full 48 that we all set out when we said, ‘Let’s set an end of the show. How many episodes do you need to tell that story and where you’re going?’”
McPherson was upstaged at last year’s press tour when Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse saved some news for Comic-Con International in San Diego, which took place a week later.
This year, McPherson said that the producers will screen a promotional video at Comic-Con for the upcoming season of Lost, but added that it will also be made available immediately on ABC.com.
McPherson acknowledged that Lost suffered more from last year’s writers’ strike than other ABC shows. “Lost, unfortunately, was one of the shows that had to actually go down for a little bit and go off the air,” he said. “We were hoping to be able to run it straight through.” Instead, the decision was made to pull Lost down completely until early next year.
