Great news via EW’s Jeff Jensen:

Yep, Lost alum and Face of Weezer Jorge Garcia — who has been cast in a new J.J. Abrams-produced series called Alcatraz – will be making a cameo in next week’s episode, playing (SPOILER ALERT!) a Massive Dynamic employee.

Happy April Fools’ Day! Don’t miss FRINGE tonight!

After a two months hiatus, FRINGE finally returns tonight with a mythology-heavy episode titled “Peter”,  which will provide fans with answers about Peter and the alternate universe. We recently sat down with John Noble – Walter on the sci-fi drama - to talk about tonight’s episode and what lies ahead in the rest of the season. The 61-year-old actor also revealed a huge LOST secret that will make your geek brains melt.

TVGuide.com: The show has been on hiatus for almost 2 months. Did the production stop as well?

John Noble: No, not at all. The hiatus was strictly a programming decision by FOX executives. We only stopped filming for Christmas. I did have a little time off in February, when I flew to Hawaii to do a little cameo on LOST.

TVGuide.com: Wow, really?

JN: Yeah. Although I can’t reveal too much in detail, I can say that you will find out how the Dharma Initiative and the Hanso Foundation are connected to Massive Dynamic. It was a blast to work with Francois Chau [Pierre Chang], Ian Patrick Williams [Alvar Hanso] and Michael Emerson; who I’ve known for many years now.

TVGuide.com: I suspect JJ Abrams had something to do with this.

JN: To be honest, I haven’t seen JJ for ages. Just like on LOST, he disappeared after filming the pilot episode. It was actually Jeff Pinkner [co-executive producer of FRINGE and former LOST writer] and Damon Lindelof’s idea. Jeff has been giving Damon advice on alternate universes and stuff like that for the last year, so they thought it would be fun to connect both shows somehow.

I got really excited when Jeff called me. Not only I was going to work with old friends, but I was also having a break from Vancouver’s weather, which is awful. Really awful. [Laughs].

Jeff, when you look at Alias and you look at Lost and you look at Fringe, in my mind these are three really, really brilliant shows, but they’ve all had sort of rating issues. Is it the time slot, is it the complexity, what do you think people are looking for, and why do you think people are not tuning in, in larger numbers?

Jeff Pinkner: I think that, it’s funny, JJ Abrams and I have had this conversation on more than one occasion, and I think that Fringe, Lost, Alias, absolutely there’s a time slot issue, but at the end of the day, it’s more important to us that people fall in love with the shows. I’ve said before that these shows to me are like licorice, not everybody likes licorice, but the people that like licorice, love it. And I think it’s always been more important to us that we create shows that people can get passionate about. And the truth is, there’s only so much time in the day to get passionate about something, and there’s a lot of really great shows on. We never take it as a indication of the quality of our shows, how many people watch. It’s more important to us that the people that watch, really care about it deeply.

So will this final season answer all our queries? Because, you know, we’ve got a lot. “We’re sort of presenting our best version of the show, and there are going to be some very conclusive elements to this season,” said Lindelof. “But at the same time, it wouldn’t be Lost if there wasn’t sort of grounds for debate amongst the fans.” Does Lindelof ever go online to check out all the theories that have been tossed around on the boards? “You can go crazy if you jump down the rabbit hole of what are people’s theories and how close they are to what it is we’re doing,” Lindelof stated. “But I think there is something rewarding about when you throw like a little Easter egg out there,” said. “And somebody goes, ‘Wait a minute. I found this. And this is what I think it means.’ You kind of sit back in your chair and say, ‘Thank god.’ Because there’s nothing worse than hiding an Easter egg and then nobody finds it.” talked a little bit about the show’s final season and the endgame we’ve all been patiently awaiting. “Every season sort of brings its own challenges,” Lindelof offered. “Obviously last year was like, how do you do time travel in a new and inventive way without confusing people or being too weird?” Lindelof went on to say that the obvious challenge for this season was being able to end the show correctly. “I do feel like one of the things that

Are the producers and writers scaling back on their creative supplemental web-content this year? “This year we’re really just focused on the mothership, the show itself,” Lindelof admitted. “And the idea of sort of doing all these little net adventures was something that was more applicable to past seasons.” And what about all the net-rumors regarding former cast members, some dead favorites, returning to the show for a final bow? “Obviously in last year’s finale we posited the possibility of sort of changing the flow of history itself,” Lindelof recounted. “So that would mean that characters who were dead wouldn’t be technically dead if they died on the island.” Lindelof, however, was not ready to reveal any names. We’ll just have to wait and see. And by wait, I mean really wait, because one of the marketing strategies heading into Season 6 involves not leaking any footage. Both Lindelof and Carlton Cuse feel that if the audience caught site of any imagery from the upcoming episodes that they’d immediately know what they were up regarding the fallout from the Season 5 finale.

Fox has picked up to series Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams’ “Fringe,” about a young female FBI agent who tackle cases involving unexplained medical and scientific phenomena, reports Variety.

Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV produced a two-hour pilot for “Fringe,” which was written by frequent Abrams’ collaborators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and directed by Alex Graves.

The series’ cast includes Anna Torv, Mark Valley and Joshua Jackson.
