MEET THE NEW CAST: JEREMY DAVIES

Cast and Crew of Lost, Photos & Scans, Videos 0 Comments »

This week we will be posting some information about the new actors on the show. Today we will begin this mini-section talking about Jeremy Davies (Daniel Faraday on Lost).

Jeremy Davies Boring was born in 1969. He spent his childhood in Michigan and Kansas, but after his mother’s death, in the mid 70’s, he went to live with his father and step-mother in Santa Barbara, California.

Jeremy attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, CA. While enrolled there, he began to win bit parts and small roles in TV series and movies. Among the few substantial roles he won during this time was co-starring as a youth in Guncrazy, a Showtime thriller, as well as a guest appearance on Melrose Place.

In 1993, Davies was cast in a TV commercial for Subaru in which his “character” compares the car to punk rock. The commercial was noticed by numerous casting directors and industry forces. Soon after, Davies found himself being sent feature film scripts. He began building a repertoire with huge hit movies such as Twister and Spielberg’s war-epic Saving Private Ryan. Davies’s performance was well-received, and he has gone on to star in numerous films, including The Million Dollar Hotel (2000), Solaris (2002), and Rescue Dawn (2007).

I personally never paid attention to him, even if I had seen some of his films, like Twister or Saving Private Ryan. When I heard he was joining the cast of Lost I decided to watch his latest film, Rescue Dawn. This movie, directed by Werner Herzog and starring Christian Bale, tells the story of a US Fighter pilot’s struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War.

The film was amazing. Even if I didn’t like the ending too much (it was too artificial), the story was told in a very realistic way, which I always enjoy in movies. And about Jeremy’s perfonmance, all I have to say is that it was superb. He plays the role of the unstable prisioner, Gene Debruin, in a brilliant way. I strongly recommend you to watch this film.

MEET THE FREIGHTER FOUR

Polls, Recaps/Reviews/Opinion, Season 4 0 Comments »

After we have watched one of the best episodes of Lost so far, it’s time to analyze a little bit the new people on the island:

Daniel Faraday (played by Jeremy Davies)

This man in his late 30’s is a physicist from Essex, Massachusettes. He seems to have a girlfriend or wife, but we didn’t manage to see her face, which makes me wonder if we already know her or might meet her soon. He was very saddened by flight 815 going down, but we don’t know why.

Daniel seems to be an introverted person, and can also be considered as the most friendly new visitor.

Miles Straume (played by Ken Leung)

Miles is a spiritualist from California. The most interesting thing about him is that he actually believes that he can be in contact with dead people. If you pay him he can also leave your house empty of spirits, by using a devide that looks like a hi-tech vacuum cleaner.

Once on the island, he “talks” to Naomi’s body, and after he finishes, he believes Kate’s story about how Naomi died. By the end of the episode, he tells Jack & Co. that their mission on the island (at least one of them) is to find Benjamin Linus.

Charlotte Lewis (played by Rebecca Mader)

Charlotte is a 25 years old woman from Essex, England. She is cultural anthropologist, and while she was in Tunisia, a few weeks before arriving at the island, she discovered a polar bear skeleton and a Dharma Initiative collar with the Hydra Station logo.

Frank Lapidus (played by Jeff Fahey)

Frank is an aircraft pilot who claimes to have been originally scheduled to pilot the flight Oceanic 815, but was replaced by Parkman (sorry, I meant Seth Norris). When he sees his body on the TV, he claims that, that body is not Seth’s.

When he meets Juliet on the island, he realizes that she is not a passenger of the 815.
