More than 600,000 fans braved an early morning start yesterday, Monday 24 May, to watch the finale of Lost at 5am on Sky1 – more than have been watching the show in its regular Friday 9pm slot in recent weeks.

Lost had a five-minute peak audience of 854,000 viewers, with an average of 635,000 between 5am and 7.15am.

The finale, entitled The End, was scheduled to run until 7.30am, but the broadcast – beamed in live from the US as Sky1 simulcast the show’s conclusion with US network ABC’s west coast transmission – actually ended 15 minutes early. Sky1 was one of seven non-US broadcasters that simulcast The End late on Sunday and yesterday.

Between 6am and 6.30am the Lost finale, the climax of 121 often baffling episodes, had a bigger audience than BBC breakfast and ITV1′s GMTV.

In the past month Lost, which normally airs on Sky1 at 9pm on Friday, has attract between 500,000 and 575,000 viewers.

In the US the final episode drew 13 million viewers on ABC on Sunday at 9pm, the highest ratings for the show for two years, although some observers thought that such a high-profile finale would draw bigger numbers.

The first half of “The End” drew 396.000 viewers (39,6% share) on CUATRO, while the second half averaged 408,000 viewers (25,7% share).

UPDATE: Cuatro.com confirmed today that the network will simulcast the LOST finale, starting at 3AM (local time).

According to El País, the most read newspaper in Spain, CUATRO will broadcast the LOST series finale on the same night as ABC and CTV: Sunday, May 23rd.

More details will be announced soon.

Okay, so I live in Canada, and we have a station called Space, which is kind of like The Sy Fy Channel, but it broadcasts American shows days or even weeks after the American Broadcast.
Well last night (Wednesday January 27) I was watching the new episode of Supernatural, which already aired last Thursday on The CW.
Well, to my grateful surprise, when it went to commercial break, I saw the Awesome Cuatro Chessboard promo, BUT with the narration of the poem (altered) done by none other then Locke himself, Terry O’Quinn.

Unfortunately, I don’t own a DVR, so I couldn’t share it with the rest of you LOST fans, but I figured that I need to get it to you guys somehow.
So tonight, during Space’s broadcast of the Caprica Pilot, I figure they had to play that commercial again, so I decided to record it with my camera.

Firstly, I apologize for not recording the commercial right from the start, and for the out of focus.
I was distracted when the commercial started, so I didn’t let the camera properly focus before I hit record.

Secondly, I will try again later, and hopefully I’ll get a better quality version, but to any Canadian LOST fans out there that may have DVR’ed last nights episode of Supernatural, or tonight’s Caprica episode, please, PLEASE, upload this commercial, my poor camera skills don’t do the awesome-ness of probably the best LOST promo ever made any justice.

For those who may not be able to hear the narration, this is what Locke says:

“Says the wise man, life is a chessboard of nights and days.
Where God, using men as his pawns, plays.
Hither and thither moves, and checkmate, and slays.
And one by one, he places them back in the box.
For each pawn has its fate, as does each player, as does God.
Fate will be met.”

SL-LOST can confirm that ABC will air CUATRO’s promo in response to Damon and Carlton’s petition. The poem will be narrated by Terry O’Quinn in the American version. Many TV networks around the globe are also interested on airing the Spanish promo.

The amazing promo created by Spanish TV network CUATRO has become an Internet sensation. Our subtitled video has been watched over 220,000 times in less than 3 days and popular websites, such as Entertainment Weekly, the NY Post, Los Angeles Times, IGN, the New York Times, Slash Film, E!Online and TV.com have all praised it. Damon Lindelof has described it as “incredible” and Carlton Cuse retweeted our video calling it “the best promo ever”.

So the question is: will ABC disobey Team Darlton’s petition and show new footage from season 6, given the lack of excitement surrounding the network’s promos and the sudden buzz around Cuatro’s commercial? The new trailer released by ABC a few hours ago isn’t bad, but it’s not a masterpiece either.

Spanish TV network Cuatro has announced that they will air the final season of LOST just a few days after the original broadcast in the US, in an attempt to “decrease the number of Internet downloads”. Until now, Spanish LOST fans had to wait months to watch new episodes of our favorite TV show unless they downloaded the episodes from the Internet.
