After first crashing onto CTV on October 2, 2004, the multiple award-winning series LOST comes to and end with one final season of mind-bending twists and turns, beginning February 2. But with exactly two weeks ago until the premiere, CTV goes back to the beginning and gives viewers a chance to prep for the big premiere with additional buzz-building programming: an encore presentation of the Season 5 finale (Jan. 26); a special re-broadcast of the original 2004 Season 1 “Pilot” episode (Jan. 31), and a LOST highlight special recapping the past five seasons (Jan. 31). It’s the perfect primer for LOST fans new and old leading up to the sixth and final season, premiering Tuesday, February 2 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). LOST, the final season, also premieres Thursday, February 4 at 9 p.m. ET on SPACE.

For lapsed fans and viewers wanting to rewind and brush up on LOST, tune in to CTV:

Tuesday, January 26 from 9 – 11 p.m. ET – “The Incident,” Parts 1 & 2 – In the fifth season finale, Jack’s decision to put a plan in action in order to set things right on the island is met with some strong resistance by those close to him, while Locke assigns Ben a difficult task.

Sunday, January 31 at 7 p.m. ET – “Pilot,” Part 1 – Forty-eight survivors of an airline flight, which crash-lands onto an unknown island 1000 miles off course, struggle to figure out a way to survive, while trying to find a way to be rescued.

Sunday, January 31 at 8 p.m. ET – “LOST: BEGINNING OF THE END” – This all-new special explores the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date – but which current viewers will also find illuminating – in anticipation of the two-hour final season premiere. The special will take a look at the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, the mysteries of the island, its inhabitants, the Oceanic 6, the violent shifts through time on the island and the detonation of the hydrogen bomb. It will also delve into some of the questions that have been answered, and those that still remain a mystery

For additional information, mythology, clues and hints before the final season begins, CTV.ca features one to four-minute Quick Cuts from all 97 episodes. Each fully re-edited and re-scored mini-episode features vital information about the complicated history and future of the passengers of Oceanic flight 815, secrets of The Island and the murky truth about The Others.

“LOST pushed the boundaries of television, paving the way for a whole new genre of serial dramas,” said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. “CTV is excited to bring Canadians a week of catch-up programming before the big Season 6 premiere.”

As previously announced, during the VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES LOST fans can watch brand-new episodes of Season 6 on /A\, Tuesday, February 16 and 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (visit Atv.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

New episodes of LOST will also be made available on demand Wednesdays at 9 a.m. ET on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca and spacecast.com following its television broadcast each week.

A consistent Top 20 performer on CTV,* LOST has won nearly 50 awards during its five year run including Emmys for “Outstanding Drama Series”, “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” and “Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series”, as well as a Golden Globe Award for “Best Drama”.

Starting February 2, LOST will begin answering those questions that have kept avid viewers guessing for seasons. What ever happened to Claire? What is the smoke monster? Why is Richard Alpert seemingly ageless? Why does the frozen wheel beneath the Orchid station send people to the Tunisian desert? Why did the Oceanic 6 need to go back to the island?

In the two-hour premiere (Tuesday, February 2 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV), the aftermath from Juliet’s detonation of the hydrogen bomb is revealed.

Viewers can also visit CTV.ca now for a chance to enter in a special LOST contest to win a LOST fan’s dream prize pack. The grand prize winner will receive box sets of each season, as well as a copyof a limited collectors edition of Season 5, plus one of only 15 signed cast photos (13 cast members in total). Don’t know if you wanna post this up, but for your Canadian readers, LOST is officially going back to CTV for the final season instead of AChannel. That’s pretty big news seeing as AChannel is basically just a graveyard where shows go when their ratings on CTV aren’t good enough. Seasons 4 and 5 were shown on AChannel but I’ve seen a few promos now that says S6 will be on CTV, which means the promotion will be MUCH better and seen by more people, and it will definitely be good for LOST’s ratings.

Unfortunately, I can’t find an official statement or videos of any of CTVs new promos online, but I’ve included a link to CTV’s “Holiday Rewind” page where they promote the final season and have posted up recaps of seasons 1-5.

This blog has many readers from Canada, so we’re sure you guys are going to be happy to hear that tonight’s LOST episode will be airing at 7 PM instead of 9 PM on the A-Channel. The reason for the change is because of the premiere of the 12th Season of “America’s Next Top Model”, which will be airing from 8PM until 10PM.

This means we will be publishing the open thread post for “LaFleur” at 8 PM EST, so those of you in Canada can start discussing and theorizing about the episode as soon as you have finished watching it!
