Following the final episode of “LOST,” Jimmy Kimmel will host a one-hour post-show discussion and celebration of the beloved series on SUNDAY, MAY 23 at 12:05 a.m., ET on ABC.

Kimmel will be joined in studio by Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Emilie de Ravin, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O’Quinn and Harold Perrineau, with special appearances by Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly and an exclusive look at THREE ALTERNATIVE FINAL SCENES from the minds of executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

Jimmy Kimmel Live has been deluged by more studio audience ticket requests for this special than any show in its 7 plus year history. Watch the grand finale to the grand finale “JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE: ALOHA TO LOST” on SUNDAY, MAY 23 following local news.

Digital Spy has a new interview with Alan Dale, in which he talks about his new project: “Renaissance”. There’s no mention on LOST, which kind of worries me, because I love Widmore as a character and I’d hate to think that we won’t be seeing him too often next season.

Echo Beach is dead (commiserations, Martine) – but Moving Wallpaper lives on. Hurrah! Hoping for a second chance of primetime success, Jonathan Pope and his team are back with a new project: Renaissance, a one-off zombie drama pilot starring Alan Dale and Kelly Brook. We caught up with veteran actor Alan for a chat about his heroic role in the pilot and the prospect of playing himself in the accompanying comedy series.

Is Renaissance intended to be a serious drama or is it comedic?
“No, it stands on its own. It’s not like Echo Beach was last year. Moving Wallpaper makes the show, but it’s just going to be one half-hour pilot. My character is the hero and Kelly Brook plays the heroine. We’ve both been in most of the episodes of Moving Wallpaper too.”

How does the story of Renaissance play out?
“It starts on a 747, which lands and gets overrun with zombies. My character has three children, Kelly joins us, we escape. At one point I’ve got a flamethrower and we’re cooking zombies! At another point I’m jumpstarting a landrover in the forest somewhere. I had a lot of fun doing it. But it’s dead straight – there’s no attempt at comedy, it’s a horror. It’s a pilot for a horror series.”

So where do these zombies come from?
“It’s explained by one of the characters as a military experiment. Someone got hold of the virus and put a strain of it in the reservoirs. Then the people drank the water and turned into zombies, then started biting non-zombies and turning them into zombies too.”

In the real world, is Renaissance actually a pilot too? Could this be a potential real series?
“We laugh about it and chat about it, but I don’t think that’s the intention. On the other hand, it could happen I suppose!”

What attracted you to this show?
“They sent me some DVDs of Moving Wallpaper last year and I just couldn’t stop watching them. Also I love England and love coming here.”

Did you watch Echo Beach as well?
“No, I never saw that. Actually I had lunch with Jason [Donovan] when I was doing Spamalot and he was still hoping they might bring that back as well. I never saw any of it. Even its name tends to indicate that it’s a soap and I don’t really watch soaps, so I wouldn’t have watched it anyway.”

Are there many crossovers from Moving Wallpaper in the script for Renaissance?
“In Moving Wallpaper Kelly and I play ourselves, so I’m Alan Dale and she’s Kelly Brook. I’m trying to chat up one of the writers – it’s very funny. I feel very uncomfortable playing myself because I’ve never done it before and I don’t really like some of the things I say, because I wouldn’t say that. But when I quoted some of them back to my wife she said ‘they know you!’ I think I probably am like the character more than I think. But whatever, it’s such a thrill to be in it. For me, it’s a more watchable The Office.”

What was Kelly like to work with?
“Lovely. Gorgeous girl. Obviously physically she’s gorgeous but apart from that she’s lovely. A girl much sharper than anybody thinks.”

It seems like Alan Dale (Charles Widmore) doesn’t love Lost too much…

Last season the Lost team came over here to film scenes to work around your schedule, didn’t they?
“They brought over the stars, directors and DOPs, then paid a lot of money for Connaught House and a restaurant beneath Tower Bridge. I was doing Spamalot at the time. They asked me to take the time off and go over [to Hawaii], but I didn’t want to because I loved my time on Spamalot and I didn’t want to miss a day. I expected they would recast it or bring in a new character, but I think [Charles Widmore] is more involved in the show than even I realise.”

How invested are you in the show? Do you follow the twists?
“Truthfully, no. I know as much as anyone else, but I don’t even know as much as you because I got sick of it. It went through a lull in scripts in the third season. At that point I felt like I had watched them wandering in a line through the forests a bit sweaty for the 1000th time. I thought ‘I can’t watch this anymore’. Then out of the bushes came a black cloud, which grabbed a black man and threw him to the ground, and I thought ‘I definitely can’t watch this anymore’.”

If you don’t know Widmore’s true motivations, how do you know how to play the character?
“It’s an interesting thing. You can sort of estimate what he is, based upon the lines he has to say. From the initial scenes I did with Henry Ian Cusick, the lines would indicate to me that he’s a rich, powerful arsehole! That’s what I think he probably is, so I just use that basic colouring and work from there. The [producers] don’t tell anyone what’s going on because the show has a lot of nutcase fans, and people could get a lot of money if they sell the storylines online. So they protect themselves by telling nobody.”

Do you interact with the other cast much?
“Put it this way. When they came across here [to film], Ben (Michael Emerson) appeared and – I forget the lovely Korean girl’s name – when they both appeared to work with me, it was the first time I’d seen them both. Suddenly there they were!”

So how much do you know in advance? Do you know about the episode you’ll be shooting in a couple days’ time?
“No, I have no idea. Normally I would have got a script by now. Hopefully there will be one waiting for me when I arrive home in LA tomorrow.”

You’ve appeared on so many US shows in recent years – 24, The O.C., Ugly Betty and Lost, of course. Is there a series you haven’t yet appeared in but would like to?
“When I took this job, it clashed with going on to Grey’s Anatomy, but that was only a guest role. I’ve always been really lucky, because things like The O.C. that were guest roles have turned into full-time jobs.”
