I’m a bit less frustrated with it, but still not ok with it.

this video made me feel awkward for loving Lost, and TLOTR.
awfully nerdish, in the basement-dwelling sense of the word.

LOST was a 6 year epic journey, no few minutes, or few hours of the show should determine it’s value as a whole. I miss LOST.

LOST remains unquestionably the best thing ever created for television. Twenty years from now, it will continue to be discussed, analysed, and remembered.

I’m currently re-watching season 6, with the clarifying LOST encyclopedia by my side, and I’m appreciating the way the show wrapped up so much more than I did a year ago. This show will never stop amazing me.

Video was decent quality and there is some really good subtle editing in there (showing Des and Penny when Sam is talking about “having something to hold on to…” Very nice touch), but overall it IS a bit of an awkward mix of genre. They still, however, obviously have similarity in their epic scale; plus the music is excellent in LOtR and all LOST fans know the value of great music with a genius like Giacchino.
I miss the show a lot; it’s the best ever made in my opinion and was a perfect storm that we might not see the like of for a long time.

I was pulled in by Lost every step of the way, all the way up through the end of Season 6. Then, a couple weeks later I viewed all of Season 6 again. As it moved along and the people in the sideways reality all began “waking up” at a faster pace, it all felt very rushed-along to me. As I saw what they were “waking up” to, it looked like sideways-time was basically the place between death and heaven (or whatever you want to call where they all moved on to from the church).
So the island, and everything that happened on it, was just the place between death and purgatory? That’s the impression I got. And it felt like a cop-out. They might as well have just said “it was all a dream.” That is not a creative ending, in my opinion. It’s a cheap, efficient way out. “Lame” was the impression I was left with.
And so as a result, Season 6 ruined the entire series for me. Why? All of the mystery was gone, and the place it went to was a big thud; like, “oh, Ok.” Unexciting and disappointingly unsurprising. A real let-down.
I considered everything we’d been told about Locke, for instance, from the beginning; he was special, right? How so exactly? Well, the island needed him. For what? So that the man in black could inhabit his body and then create all this drama and conflict for our beloved characters to wallow in? So that….what? So Jack could beat and destroy him so that…what? He could proceed on the heaven with the rest of the deserving characters whose lives had crossed with others in significant ways?
I realize we all see things from our own perspective, and this is just mine. It’s not meant to rain on anyone’s parade who thoroughly loved and enjoyed the whole series. But for me, even though I own every season on DVD, I can’t really see myself going back and re-watching any of it again. Because knowing what I now know about where the mystery was headed, the thrill is gone.

The sideways world was basically a purgatory like state between death and whatever came next.
However, the events on the island were real and took place while all the characters were still alive.
