   And Claire is actually taking Hurley's place, he was moved to the right.

   This promo image looks quite tacky compared to last years sleek and sophisticated picture. Last years promo was one of my favorite lost images as the set matched perfectly with the first half of the season (half Island, Half 'real' world) and the cast looked so amazing.

   The empty chair on the far right is clearly meant to be jacobs place and also a bit miffed there is no Desmond in this picture you cant just say the rules dont apply to him in season 5 and then not do anything about it. This better not be another Walt situation!

   I believe trying to think about the positions is useless.
   The fact that they changed their seats proves that it doesn't really matter (except john's seat), what matters that it's the LAST supper (last season of lost) and that john is centric (jesus like-centric)

    Yep, and it's above-ground… weird. Also, the table is an airplane wing and they are all sitting in airplane seats.

    I think it's worth mentioning that Darlton stated that Desmond's purpose on the island wasn't yet fufilled.
    (season 5 ep 1 commentary) so by all rights, he SHOULD be here. Not enough chairs? or is it conceivable that because of the sexual assault charges made against him during season 5 that his story has been cut short? we all know what happens to actors who misbehave on lost

    I don't think it really matters where people are in the photo, but it may matter who is standing and who is sitting. But, I am sure that there is some significance in the destroyed building with the Swan logo, the airplane wing (which is not that of a large passenger jet) and the skulls that are under the 'table'.
