typo: I had an incomplete thought in my last post.
I was thinking, especially with all of the crazy time travel that's been prevalent throughout this season, that Jackob could actually be one of the main cast of people who landed with the plane. It looks moreso like Jackob has been a part of the island since its been around, but Richard Alpert said that there IS a sort of promotion system among the Others. Still, it looks to me like the most likely candidate is Locke.

Warning: this is kind of a three-part post. My friend noticed that Chris Shephard's appearance in this episode made it look like the writers wanted people to think Christian was Jackob, especially when Chris mentions how he told Locke to move the island, not Ben. The two of us agree in wanting Jackob to be something much more interesting than just Chris Shephard, even though he has had his own amount of mystique in the show. I was thinking, especially with all of the crazy time travel that's been prevalent throughout this season. Last point, totally unrelated to the past two, is my own personal theory: What if Desmond and Penny's son, Charlie, is actually the same Charlie that died at the end of season 3? One of the first hiccups in this theory came about when I wondered, "If they named their son after Charlie, then how did he get the name in the first place? Oh shit, I divided by zero!" Then I realized that Penny's dad is a Charles....

Oh, and JoshuaCG - That last picture of the Temple that is in place of the Great Wheel chamber was lost in translation when it was first put up on Hobotrashcan. It's being changed over there. You can see the original post, with the corrected picture here: http://community.livejournal.com/lostdiscussion/

re: Candle/Halliwax/Change/Whomever

All of you who brought up the confusion over the Arrow and Swan stations are correct. That was my bad. I misremembered the speech from the season premiere because I recalled Candle wearing a smock with the symbol for the Swan station while he was recording, and it bothered me. I must've blocked out the Arrow since then. So, yes, that makes the most sense as I do remember the Arrow being identified as the security/defense station for the DI on the island.

As for Daniel: Believe me, I give the Lost writers a HUGE berth in their temporal fiction, as well as all the other plot or detail holes that crop up from time to time. I could pick apart every episode for all the teeny details they miss (such as Candle wearing the Swan logo instead of the Arrow, for instance) but I don't find any fun in that. I just have little pet peeves that crop up from time to time. It happens with just about every piece of fiction that deals with time travel, but I'm able to put them aside and just enjoy the ride, for the most part. Jeff from Boston, you were also correct about Faraday stating the "rules" for time travel in the beginning, I just thought it was an interesting take with how my girlfriend put it. It made more sense than another Lost character simply stating "because I said so."

For all the questions about Charlotte's lineage, I'm not quite convinced about that. There's a fairly decent chance she might be a long lost Widmore. Or she could simply be the child of one of the Others that they encountered in the '50s. Her connection to any of the other characters may not be that important, only that she's tied to the island intimately. I will say that I don't believe she and Daniel were brother and sister, because that'd be really creepy in a Luke/Leia kinda way.

The staff is the Medical station, and as @gabe said the weapons defense station was The Arrow. So I'm not convinced the Swan is there to protect the island.

Interesting, though, that Ben's map for Alex indicated the Temple using a Dharma logo. I forgot about that. Either Dharma took over the Temple and used it as a station, or built their own station nearby, or had a station called the Temple that is something entirely different from the Temple Jin and the French crew found.

Small correction to main article:

You say that Dr. Candle "said in this season’s premiere that the Swan was created..." But it's not the Swan (and @joshuaCG, it's not the Staff either) but is in fact _The Arrow_.

Go back and listen to it. Dr. Candle says to the camera "...this is the orientation film for Station 2: The Arrow." Also, if you freeze-frame the clapperboard, before the filming starts, you see it says "Arrow" on it.

Your girlfriend's theory is a good one, but it was also already established on the show. In the season premiere, someone asks why the zodiac time shifted with them, but not the camp, and Faraday speculates that anything they have in their possession (clothes, guns), would time shift as well - hence why the rope does.

There are a million flaws one could cite when dealing with time/space travel in film and television.

1. ) What if you warped to a place where someone else was standing? Would you then occupy that person's space and displace what was left of them? Or would you simply meld into a dual mass of human parts?

2.) If your clothes can't go with you because they are not living tissue, what then of your hair, your saliva, your fingernails and teeth? If you held to that rule hard and fast time travel would be a giant mess!

You just have to let certain things go. I think the writers of Lost are pretty good at establishing rules and holding to them. If they had to consider all of these things, Lost wouldn't be nearly as compelling as it is.

Even though Charlotte said that she thought Daniel was the man that scared as a child, that her and Daniel are in fact, brother and sister? Therefore, sharing Ellie Hawking and possibly Widmore as parents? That's What I'm going with now.

Hey, something I've been wondering about and I swear no one else has - when Ben turned the Wheel, there was a Yellow glowing light - but when Locke turns it, it's Green - whats up with that? Or am I just imaginiung things? Also, something I can't entirely remember - the sound the light makes when Locke turns the wheel - isn't it different to when Ben turned it?
