Dominic Monaghan has revealed that he will “definitely be tuning in” for the final season of Lost.
The 32-year-old actor, who played Charlie Pace on the ABC cult series, also said that he knows a few details on how the series ends.
“I know little bits and pieces about the final season, but I’m still going to watch it,” he said. “It’s event television, so I’ll definitely be tuning in.”
Asked about the comparisons between Lost and his new series FlashForward, Monaghan claimed that there are “distinct differences” between the shows.
“Well, there are obvious similarities because both Lost and FlashForward include a large ensemble cast, a very ambitious storyline and a very easy way to sell the show internationally because it’s based on an event that happens worldwide,” he said.
“Both include mystery, drama and suspense - but at the same time, I think there are distinct differences. I think FlashForward is a show that is probably not as sophisticated in that deeply-rich mythology as Lost is.
“However, I would not like to call FlashForward ‘simplistic’ in any way.”
Digital Spy talked to Sonya Walger about the final season of LOST and her new role on ‘FlashForward’.
Having worked on both Lost and FlashForward now, what do you make of the comparisons between the shows?
“I think they’re only valid in that they’re both big ensemble shows with one big concept or premise. But after that, they part ways really quite rapidly. FlashForward is definitely not a sci-fi show. It doesn’t have the mythology of Lost. We have one major event that happens that you are asked to buy into. After that, you’re dealing with very human ripple effects - how people deal with it and how they come to terms with it. There are six-and-a-half billion people that have blacked out, so that’s potentially six-and-a-half billion stories to tell! Believe me, we’re not telling all of them. But we’re about to start [filming] episode eight and I’m so surprised by how far the ripple has been felt.”
Will your involvement in the final season of Lost affect your role on FlashForward?
“I don’t know if I’m in the final season of Lost - no-one tells me anything! My hunch is that you’ll see Penny again because I can’t believe that they would just never refer to her again, but I have no idea. Luckily, they’re both ABC shows, so it’s in-house. I’m not being traded across party lines!”
When Lost ends, do you think fans of the show will jump on-board FlashForward?
“I hope so. I think Lost is like losing a friend or a relative or someone. You can’t replace it with another one. Lost holds a very special place in people’s hearts and I wouldn’t presume to say that FlashForward will replace Lost. I think it provides a lot of the same adrenaline and fascination and entertainment. It will help ease the pain of losing Lost! I think it will appeal to the very same audience.”Read the rest of this entry »

Series Premiere: Thursday September 24th 8/7c.
“V”
Plot: In this daring re-imagining of the ‘80s sci-fi classic, humanity takes on a greater threat than any it has ever faced before.

After the Visitors arrive, Erica gets caught up in the greatest conspiracy and toughest fight of her life, to save humanity and to keep her son safe.
In the worst-kept secret at Comic-Con 2009, the Flash Forward show runners revealed via dramatic video footage and a late appearance by the actor himself that Dominic Monaghan will indeed star in ABC’s newest high-concept sci-fi drama, premiering Sept. 24.
Charlie may be dead on Lost (maybe), but Dom is very much alive as Simon, “a game-changer character who f–ks up a lot of things,” as he was described by the ever-pithy show runner David Goyer (Batman Begins, Dark Knight).
Dom joins an all-star cast that includes Star Trek’s John Cho, Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), Courtney B. Vance (Law & Order) and another British Lost-ie, Sonya Walger (Penny). Their characters all glimpse their lives six months in the future during two minutes of unconsciousness in which the entire population flashes forward.
So does Dom’s casting mean he definitely won’t return to Lost? Read on to hear how the actor envisions his future…
“When people ask if me I’m coming back to Lost, that’s the equivalent of asking Huckleberry Finn if he’s coming back to Mark Twain,” said Dominic. “I’m a fictional character. I have no control over that.”
Sonya Walger, better known as Penny on LOST, has nabbed the female lead role in ABC’s upcoming sci-fi drama “Flash Forward”. Watch below the promo that aired during the LOST season finale:
