I loved this episode for several reasons. One: Finally we got Jacob to say why he brought the Losties to the island. He was in fact not a dark character as many fans had claimed. He did not “destroy” their lives, but he picked characters that were flawed, they had problems, in this sense it was a lot more humane to pick THESE characters than anyone else with a live back home. Also a lot of heart: Jacob saying Kate might still be a candidate, but her being mother meant for Jacob that her name had to be crossed out (probably due to Jacob losing his own mother).
Second the scene at the end with Hurley. I got that only watching thr episode for the second time: Hurley actually now is back to 100%. he does no longer doubt anything, no longer are the pictures he recollected “visions” but far more did he realise now what actually happened on the island. HE said Ana-Lucia to the police officer. And Desmond said to him: She's not ready yet. Meaning that his goal really is to have everyone come back to 100%, Sawyer, Locke, just everyone.
What really stays unanswered is: What for? What is the overall aim here? I somehow would think it to be really tragic if they all (rather: their personality) would be beamed back to the island reality and nothing we saw in the flash-sideways actually happened. Everyone is so happy now, all their lives seem so perfect.
But maybe this is what the producers meant in saying there is going to be speculation after the finale. So maqybe it's not going to be 100% clear whether or not thee will be a dominant universe? Maybe we will see many (or all?) losties die, while they are at Locke's wedding enjoying themselves, maybe even remembering their own deaths?
Anyway, one of the greatest episodes in the overall history of LOST. However, not as great as the finale is going to be!

Jacob is really lame. Why burn the ashes? He's already dead! He comes and goes as he pleases. He's asked, “Where have you been”, and we're suppose to except his response, “it doesn't matter, I'm here now”. WOW. Very convenient. Where the hell were you when your other Candidates needed you
