I don’t get it….Isn’t the hatch on the other island??
April 15th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
ahahaah hurley is amazing, he’s a ‘douche’.
i love dr. chang too; he says TURDS.
it was beautiful and opened up so many new doors!
okay so.. you know about the ben and widmore sides.. but it seems like there’s a THIRD ONE!
like, okay so the people in the van.. the people on the island NOW. asked the same question about what lies in the shadow of the statue
*goosebumps everywhere*
ahh i want to cry of amazement!
April 15th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
@casper: they’re on the main island. hurley and miles traveled to the orchid which, as you know, is on the main island. perhaps you got confused when chang mention the hydra station. he threatened to send hurley there for polar bear poop duty
@keely: i agree there def seems to be a third side; the “whats in the shadow of the statue?” side….who almost seem to have a greater understanding of the island than ben or whidmore….strange
April 15th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Most def a better ep than I was expecting, and I was judging by the title.
Favorite part was probably seeing the Hatch being built, and the numbers. Very nice. and it’s always cool seeing the Ochid’s skeletal structure. I seem to find that cool everytime
Ha, and when Miles was reading Hurley’s notebook, I was thinking “he’s NOT writing Star Wars…” yup. great stuff. I don’t understand yet why Miles was asking BEN for the 3.2 million though, did I miss something?
April 15th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
the guy who asked “what lies in the shadow of the statue” is the guy with Ilana in the last episode when they were moving their “crate”
April 15th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
@Brian. lol. well anyway. Widmore gave Miles 1.6 million for going to the island, which is half. idk the connection but it is half
April 15th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
3.2 is the amount Miles wanted from the people in the van to go with them
April 15th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
I thought this was a really good episode, it was nice to finally learn a lil more about Miles past cuz i have been waiting for this since “Confirmed Dead” last year, now we just need a Faraday episode.
I think that Bram and Ilana work for the DI now mor ethan ever after seeing the scene where he kidnapped Miles. He said he knew about Dr. Chang so im assuming thats because he is part of the DI and is helping it be reconstituted back on the Island. And the war will be between the DI, Ben, and Charles.
I can’t wait to see how the hell Sawyer is gonna cover this up, i mean Phil knows he helped Kate take Ben, he can’t keep Phil tied up forever.
And i am also sooooo happy that Faraday is still alive i was really afraid there for a min. I do wonder tho what he was doing in Ann Arbor, must have been working with the DeGroots, so i hope we get to see them soon.
BTW best line: “You’re just jealous my power is better than yours.” -Hurly haha this as hilarious, along with him trying to write Empire Strikes Back haha I love Hurly
April 15th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
One of the best episodes of the episode…SO FAR, I say that because next NEXT (why must they torture us?) week, they’re doing a **r****-centric AND it’s the 100th episode! AND I KNEW CHANG WAS MILES FATHER. In the beginning when Miles was still all ‘who’s my daddy?’ and his mother is all ‘he’s dead!’ Im like, I WAS RIGHT MANG! I’m a bit overexcited about the episode since it was the best yet since LaFleur!
April 15th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
I thought it was hilarious when Pierre Chang says something to the effect of how pointless the Hydra Island experiments are, that was awesome. And I love the new found friendship between Miles and Hurley
April 15th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
anyone else notice the lesson on Egyptian culture on the blackboard that Jack was wiping clean??
great episode… Hurley and Miles make an awesome duo.
April 15th, 2009 at 11:15 pm
Go Wikipedia “the Empire Strikes Back” and check out who wrote the story.
classic.
April 15th, 2009 at 11:25 pm
What?? What is the significance of the writer of “the Empire Strikes Back”?? What am I missing here?
Btw, the chalkboard had some interesting notes. On the left were hieroglyphics reminiscant of smoky’s chamber… AND, possibly they are the same 5 symbols that appears on the timer-countdown-thing when they stopped pushing the button. (Any confirmation on that?)
April 15th, 2009 at 11:44 pm
@ Dmoney:
I don’t understand what your are talking about. Please elaborate. Thanks
April 15th, 2009 at 11:48 pm
Hurly said he was writing Empire Stikes Back in his lil notebook…so its a joke sayin that oh well maybe Hurly really did write Empire when hes a fictional character and obviosuly didnt so its just a joke watch the scene where Miles takes his notebook and starts to read it
April 16th, 2009 at 12:16 am
LMAO Classic. Screenplay written by: Hugo Reyes hahahahaha
April 16th, 2009 at 12:19 am
It’s True, and very funny
April 16th, 2009 at 12:49 am
What is in Anarbor??????–> Not in Portland *wink*
Headquarters Dharma Initiative..?
I thought this was an awesome episode! I thought initially that Miles WAS aloud to be on the island, because he WASN’T on the island when he was 4(baby). Then that all changed when I saw Dr. Chang holding baby Miles. I didn’t know that they (both Miles) could be on the island at the same time. It looks like people are where they are suppose to be whether their “twin” is running around with them or not..and not because of some list..
Then my second question..What happened to Charlotte?
The return of Farday!..
The 3.2 Million dollars..is much clearer now..as it is going to decide which side Miles is going to be on..
hmmm…SOME of the the 316ers are going to end up playing a more important role as we gear up for the finale..
Two weeks is TOO far..but they are editing the finale..I will let the meeting of the minds..conjure up the best finale we have seen!
April 16th, 2009 at 1:41 am
To Jonine from Arizona:
1. Ann Arbor is where the University of Michigan is located and where the Degroots, founders of the D.I., live and I believe teach.
2. Charlotte is dead…Unless if you mean the young Charlotte which then I would say we will learn about by either the next episode but definitely by the end of the season.
Once I heard the 1.6 million dollars that Widmore was offering it all kind of clicked as to why he asked Ben for the certain amount.
Also, two weeks Faraday! Cannot wait to see what’s been going on with him.
April 16th, 2009 at 2:08 am
I don’t understand. If Miles’s mother saw him in the cafeteria line, wouldn’t she remember him in the future when he’s growing up and see the resemblance to the guy that was in the Dharma Initiative and her own son?
April 16th, 2009 at 2:28 am
hell yea douche bag is my father
April 16th, 2009 at 2:32 am
do you remember ever person you stand in line with?
I agree with everyone that those folks are Dharma.
One thing I’m interested in, is Richard going to be happy to see Ben?
April 16th, 2009 at 3:17 am
also, anyone else notice the dead body young miles finds looks an awful lot like Roger Linus?
April 16th, 2009 at 7:19 am
THE DI is back!!! So they are the other faction. I can’t wait. It makes sense now that they are the ones on the Hydra Island and knew how to get back. Widmore even with his resources couldn’t have gotten a team together that fast. Dharma may have been tapping into the Light Post station and my guess is that maybe they were the ones who were going after Locke in The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham not Ben. This is great.
Do you know what lies in the shadow of the statue? Answer: Awsomeness!!!!
April 16th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Oh seriously, this Dharma episodes are so boring.. i’m really looking forward to the end of this term, i want more “dead is dead”-episodes.
April 16th, 2009 at 9:28 am
@ Dmoney
Awesome catch… So Hurley wrote Starwars… LOl…. Hats Off to the writers…
I expected the episode to be in the Good category after last weeks perfect one. It was a good episode. Another Daddy issue addressed.
Hurley miles duo rocked.
The Third Party-
I believe they are part of the last remaining members of the Dharma Initiative. I base me theory on the following:
- Ben killed the Dharma Folks who were present on the island. Now its quite possible they had some part off the island too.
- This could also explain the Food Droppings with Dharma Logo.
- The guy who tries to talk Miles out of working for Widmore also has a small conversation with Ben in ‘Dead is Dead’. It shows hes neither an Other.
So he’s obviously from a third party and i believe a part of Dharma Initiative.
April 16th, 2009 at 9:40 am
Oh and didn’t you all enjoy how the opened up the episode with the number ’316″ haha!
But i forgot to mention this, the FATHER ISSUES
how is it that every single character has an issue with their father,
is it coincidence.. or does this have a deeper meaning?
April 16th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Clearly the only issues Miles has with his dad is that was was misinformed by his mother. we KNOW cheng loves his wife and son. in the comic con video Cheng is going on about the future and knows about the purge. he only sent Miles and his wife away to save them… NOT cause he didnt love them.
Does anyone else HATE Jack now? Sawyer is the new Jack ^^
I think seeing Phil get knocked the ^%#@ out was the highlight of my LIFE!
April 16th, 2009 at 10:52 am
@nessa – I like the new Jack. He is so far playing by Sawyers rules. If tried to go out on his own it would seem a bit strange. A Janitor trying to take the lead with the DI. Plus I saw shades of the old Jack when Roger asked him about Kate and the way he answered.
@Anand – I also thought about the food drop last night after they said that line to Miles. I really do believe it is the DI and this is their play to come back to the island and retake it.
April 16th, 2009 at 11:56 am
this episode wasnt as good as last time, but it had its momments.
the what lies in the shadow of the statue scene and the last scene where miles see his dad with himself was very touching, and dont forget the last seconds scene where we get to see Faraday arriving!!!!
other than that i think the episode was a little bit slow but still I love lost
and…
whats up with the body in the bag? why they need it in the orchid?
April 16th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I think they may have chosen 3.2 because it’s 23 backwards. They’ve already put in two other backwards 23s already. In Sayid’s and Kate’s episode. As people have said perhaps it’s a clue that everything is happening backwards.
April 16th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Wait….so the writers haven’t explained the food drops yet? I thought maybe I just missed the explanation somehow
I hope they clarify that eventually…like with one line of dialogue like they usually do (not that i’m complaining thats a subtle–and cool–way to resolve lost mysteries)
April 16th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Two Miles…? That made it a crap episode. I didn’t like it too much.
April 16th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
SOMEONE TRIED TO FREAK US OUT..!!!!!!!!
==================================================================================================
After watching the episode and checking out this thread at Dmoney (SL-Lost.com Reader)suggestion i googled “the Empire Strikes Back Wikipedia”. To my horror i found the name “Hugo Reyes” under Screenplay of the movie.
Turns out someone was trying to freak us the Lost fans out. Wikipedia has corrected it now after some 10 hrs. Do you think the writers could have done it…?
April 16th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
I find it very weird that no one from the Dharma intiative seems concerned about Ben or really seems to care too much that he’s been taken.
April 16th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
And I find it weird that nobody screams : omg the truce is broken… because the DI actually thinks that sayid was a SPY from the others, and he shot one of the DI, so he broke the truce (in their opinion)…
April 16th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
Was the “some chick named Andrea” Alvarez thinking about before he died the intern at St. Sebastian Hospital? Seems unlikely at first, but as what we know now about LOST, some of the seemingly most obscure innocuous minor characters of LOST can turn out to be pretty major players. (Widmore? Ms.Hawking?)
April 17th, 2009 at 12:43 am
@ JDR
Cool thanks.
Ann Arbor, I must have been sleeping if they had mentioned Degroots or Ann Arbor before…lol
It didn’t sound familiar to me. the only time I had heard it..was when Radzynski said it..
Well, I am still wondering, why did Charlotte have to die? Baby Miles and grown up Miles were able to be in the same time together..
Now I do think that Ilana and Bram are part of the new and upcoming DI. Maybe Dan started something in 1977..but then he changed the rules and history..
so we will see
April 17th, 2009 at 10:10 am
@Jonine
they where all going to die because of the island time traveling (the wheel in the wrong place) if Locke didnt turn the wheel Miles would have died second and then Juliett and so on…
It doesnt have anything to do with both being in the same place/time
April 18th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
What if the fact that baby and adult Miles coexisted on the island is what gives him his abilities? I mean, just being born on the island is not enough for someone to have abilities, Charlotte and Ethan were born there and didn’t seem to do anything out of the ordinary…
April 18th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Maybe the reason miles have abilities is the same reason Walt was special too… i dont know but I doubt is has anything to do with beaing born there or coexist there…
My guess is that we know that Miles will be saved from the purge (somehow he will go off the island with his mom) what if that “somehow made him end up with abilities and his mom getting cancer or some illness i dont know but I really think that his abilities are somehow connected to the way he got off the island.
April 18th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
@tidus1117: That makes sense… After all, we know from the Swan orientation video that something “catastrophic” happened during the incident, probably something similar from what happened when Desmond turned the failsafe key. That was when he started to have his abilities and traveled back to London, when he was together with Penny and later met Ms Hawking. I guess you nailed it, that event probably released a lot of radiation, Miles got his ability, his mom got cancer and his dad, Pierre Chang lost his arm (I think the swan video is the only one in which he’s got a prosthetic arm).
