Loved the episode! So much of Miss Hawking! Ben was phenomenal (as usual). Great line: “How can you read? My mother taught me”… I wonder if there’s people on the plane flying coach that we don’t yet know of, like Walt or Desmond or maybe Widmore. That would be great!! Congrats to Damon and Carlton for writing this awesome episode!

wow so maybe the reason jack appeared in the jungle in the first episode is because when the plane entered the island…desmond’s system failure in the hatch caused the island to jump in time? causing jack to be in the jungle??? idk
Anyone else think jack’s grandfather ray is more important to the story than he seems?
So, it pretty much confirms also that the white shoes in the first episode are Christians.
I think that guy who was on the plane with the o6, the one who said he was sorry for the loss to jack before boarding, is in cahoots with Widmore.
Anyone else think it was strange that Hurley brought the same guitar case ( at least it seems) as Charley’s?

i think the woman with sayid is a officer transporting him like kates officer was in the pilot i think hes the one who ruffed up ben because he asked him to kill penny but he found out it was desmonds wife and that they have a son and kate wasn’t acting like a brat she had to leave aaron behind which she spent the last 3 years with knowing she probably will never see him again its a hard thing to leave someone behind like that.

to boom, i actually think ray is the son of jacob. hes definitely important, as is everyone in the sheppard family tree, but ye i think jack’s great-grandad is jacob. itd b pretty cool if it al worked that. also, i rewound the promo for next week, and at the very end, we see john about to hang himself, but there is a man in the room with him. personally, i think its ben, cus it kinda looked like him. but the most intriguing part was what the mystery person did; he kneeled before john as he was preparing to put his neck in the rope…. kinda like john was jesus….

Once again i feel LOSt gets better and better every week i thought it was a great episode. I know some people were kinda dreading an all O6 episode but i thought it def delivered.
Something im a lil confused by is when they were in the Lampost Ms. Hawking said the Island is constantly moving through time, so does this mean it was moving during the 108 days the Losties were on the Island?
I am also wondering where is Aaron? Kate asked Jack to never ask about him again so she must have done something pretty regretable. I cant even think of somthing se might have done with him right now, well maybe something to do with Claires mom? idk
I think after Ben left the church he went to try and kill Penny, but faield and got beatdown by Desmond. When Jack asked where he was going he said he made a promise to an old friend or something to that effect, if im right i hope we get to see that sometime soon.
Any one have any ideas on how Sayid and Hurly heard about the flight? I think it was Sun after she left the church she made sure to get both of them. And also isnt Kate on probation like she isnt alowed to leave CA? How they manage that one?
I believe eventually Desmond and Walt are gonna have to come back also. Obviously the Island wanted Frank back and he happens to be flying them in. Ms. Hawking did say the Island wasnt done with Desmond.
I am kinda confused as to why they went through a flash to get to the Island, i mean it didnt happen the first time round so why this time? Lastly seeing Jin working for DHARMA i was like “WTF!!” I know a lot of others were thinking Sawyer, Jin, and Co. would be working for them but i didnt buy it, just thought Danial was infiltrating them once (season 5 opener)
BTW best linis a tie this week: “Is he telling the truth?”–Jack “Probably not.”–Ms. Hawking and “How are you reading?”–Jack “My mother taught me.”–Ben (which of course is another oe of Ben’s lies haha)

i think ben saying that ” his mother taught him ” was just him being sarcastic. Jack doesnt know bens mother died when he was born. Remember, they had DHARMA school on the island.
I also think ben got beat up by desmond. He looked like he was at the boat docks where i believe ben & penny’s boat was and he probably had some words with penny or he tried to kill her.

I think the reason hurley brought a guitar case similar to charley’s was because someone told him to bring something of charley’s just like hawking told jack for locke..maybe charley will return??
Also lost seems to be going for a real deep connection with Jesus Christ and his story. It would be cool to see the connections with Locke and Christ. I have a feeling Ben is Judas whom betrayed Jesus, Locke is of course Jesus, and 12 of the islanders are his disciples…but his mother/father are both weird individuals definitely not mary/joseph…but in holy terms..jesus’ father was God and alot of people think Jacob is God in a biblical sense.

@boom: I said exactly the same thing when that man spoke to Jack at the terminal. He’s totally a Widmore plant.
I also agree that Ben’s injuries are from trying to kill Penny. And it looks like Sun, Sayid, Ben, the Widmore plant and all the new socks are going to be on the island with the plane wreckage sometime around 2008. My guess is Sawyer shot one of them during the flashes.
Jack is now in the 1970s, around the time Horace built his creepy cabin. That dovetails nicely with my theory that he’s Jacob.

…I think we will see the “unpredictable results” Mrs Hawking referred to because of the mock recreation of the “flight” In that, some of the 06 arrive at the island in the past, while others arrive in the future. Sawyer, Jin and crew were “stopped” in time after Locke moved the wheel (circa Dharma 70′s)Sun, Sayid and the new cast are in the plane crash in the present, with ‘New’ Locke. The other 06 flash out of the plane into the past with the Dharmalars…cool, some of the “new” locke crew chase after the “old” locke crew and have that canoe shoot-out…sweet

First of all, beautiful comment by Sgrmac, all that seems quite plausible. I just wanted to say what a terrific episode tonight was, you can really tell the ones Damon and Carlton write, they hit on mythology/characters/connections/and fan desires all at once.
I thought it was awesome how when they were all with Ms. Hawking how Desmond stole the scene from Jack and Ben (two of the best and well acted characters on the show)
Jack’s grandad will definitely come to serve a higher purpose
I thought it was interesting how much Jack is turning from “a man of science” to “a man of faith.” While I can’t recall specific instances, they are there and if you pay attention to it during a re-watch, you’ll definitely pick up on it if you hadn’t already
Finally, next weeks episode looks truly phenomenal, honestly, it looks like it may start the next act (as the producers stated this season will be set up in three acts) moving away from “setting the rules” to getting on with the overarching story.
Can’t wait for Kirkman’s take!

Great episode….I am more about the mythology rather than the 06 story but I can’t wait for everything to come together!
There are a lot of things to point out but one that was awesome was the Lamppost…..anyone else relate that the narnia? The lamp post was how the kids knew how to get in and out of narnia as well as the post creating narnia….interesting!
So many questions and not enough patience!

I don’t think there will be anymore involvment from Jack’s extended family outside his father and Claire now. His grandfather was a symbol to show Jack he should have faith in signs. He didn’t know where to get something of his fathers and he was going to refuse to do that to a believer like locke. Next thing his phone rings and he visits the grandfather who just happens to be trying to run away (like Jack) and see the symbolism of the shoes. He even explains it to Kate.
Other than that the episode blew my mind. I really think they are all in the same time which is back in the 70′s. And they all plant themselves into the DI to find the rest of the survivers and go from there. I’m dying to see where this all goes though.

My beliefs about what just happened:
Charlie told Hurley he had to go to the airport.
All of the Losties are in the same time period.
Penny beat up Ben. Ben also believes that he has killed Penny but I don’t think he has. In turn, Penny will be why Desmond gets back to the island, since she will now want to kill Ben. And it seems to be that if you want to get back, you must come a similar way so Ben must come on a boat.
Locke is alive in some way shape or form.
I don’t believe Sayid was under arrest. If you remember, before the flight in season 1, Sayid was pulled away because Shannon told security about him. I believe this is a similar scenario although I keep reading that the woman on the plane was the one escorting him but I think it is explainable without Sayid having been arrested.

At first I thought it -was- a time loop but now we see that they are back in dharma times so nope. can’t be.

Hurley heard about the flight through one of the dead people who visits him. Maybe Charlie (’cause of the guitar case)
So hmmm… at first I thought Ben tried to kill penny and desmond kicked his ass. BUT I don’t see how Des would let him get away not completely killed. So I think a) the Sayid theory is good or b) Penny fought him off and then took off (have to take care of Charlie right? And didn’t have a weapon probably) is also good

Anyone else think that Jill might be Annie? And I think this is definitely some sort of time loop that has gotten off track somehow. I figured this before, then tonight’s epi just confirmed it for me!! The same things keep on happening…
Body/coffin on the plane- Christian then, John now
Trouble at the ticketing counter- Jack then, Jack now
Someone on the plane in cuffs with a marshall- Kate then, Sayid now
Someone on the plane who has a guitar- Charlie then, Hurley now
Someone to be disabled/injured- John then, Ben now
There are many many more, but these are just some of the ones that I noticed tonight.
And…. Since Claire was on the plane last time…
My guess is that someone on the plane is prego!! Kate, anyone???
OH!! And I think that in the promo for next week, the person in the room with Locke was either Richard Alpert or Boone. Can’t explain either.. just a thought!!

Anyone put any thought into how there was Ajira water bottles on the island when the time was changing so much and they were in the future? Im wondering if the plane really did crash or not…. So so sooooo much to think about after this episode and we arent going to get ANY answers next week with the Life and Death episode because Damon and Carlton said they could be aired in either order and they would still make sense which means we will get no answers to this weeks episode haha.

I think, Ben indeed killed Penny (sad) and this will be the reason for Desmond to come back to the island (revenge? kill Ben?).
Lockes broken foot from the promo was quite funny (it may has to mean something if they show it to us that big) , but i don’t think it has something todo with the 4-toed-statue, which is a statue of a left foot and locke has a broken right foot. So i guess Locke still has all of his toes on his foot
And I guess Locke will “re-arise” (is that the correct word?!) as some form of Jesus-like-Character, probably. And Jack may have the part of that doubting Thomas from the Painting in the church.
Oh, and they are probably all in one time-period (1970s) but maybe Sun and Bentham have just “landed” a few meters aside or were found by “the Hostiles” or whatever. We will see that in two weeks.

i love lost so much and i couldnt sleep very well last night, infact i dont sleep to good on Wednesday nights lol, to many thoughts in my head. but thats good cos i have been like that since season 2 and 3. season 5 is easily the best season.

If you remember in season one when they did the story of Locke, he asked his mother who his father is and she tells him he was an “Immaculate Conception”

oh yeah, i think the theory is great the only jack kate and hurley are in the 70′s and the rest of the flight people will get to the island in 2008.
and here is why: i think lapidus managed to land the plane SAFE on the hydra island where they built a runway for it. the people from the plane then got on the 2 boats to sail over to the real island where locke and sawyer and co find the bottle of ajira when they were approximatley in 2008.

nemo i agree. but im still confused as to why they would be shooting at their friends?
this was by FAR the best episode this season!! as SOON as Ben said he had to do something for an old friend i instantly knew he was going to try and kill penny. and it just confirmed that when they showed him all messed up on the docks (the same docks des and penny had their boat) i think penny effed him up though and got away.
I was totally scared when they showed kate on jacks bed.. and she told him never to ask about aaron again.. she looked so messed up in this episode.. i hope she didnt do anything to bad with him.
im deff thinking that the guitar with hurley was charlies.. and dead charlie told hurley he had to get on the plane. thats they only person, besides syid and jack, hurley would ever listen to.
yeah.. where the HECK is rose and bernard? living in the cave? lol that would be AWESOME!
cant WAIT till ‘The Life And Death of Jeremy bentham’.. the sneak peek looks like locke has a ton of close calls. but it was nice to see him alive and well back on the island talking to that new 5o chick.
OH and i love the thought that jack, kate, and hurley, went thru the flash to a diff time and ben, syid, and sun.. and the other plane people landed on the hydra island and sailed over cause the ajira bottle and boat were from the future.. not the 70′s..

Notice how Ben was late for the flight, like Hurley was in season 1? Also, I think Kate must be pregnant to simulate Claire’s role.

Well flight 316 was near the island when a flash occured so those “chosen” (by the radii) Ben, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Lapidus, Hurley, Sun, the officer and the weird guy all traveled thru time so…
that means that Jin and the others ALSO traveled in time right? so Jin finding them was after he traveled in time… maybe he was in the bus already so the bus traveled too??
How much time does they been on the island since Jack got out?
and how will people explain the disappearing of people in a plane during turbulence?(cuz the plane didnt crash)
Penny are you ok? It seems as if Ben killed her… but maybe its a trick and she is alive? or maybe the trick is for us to think that is a trick and she is really dead and Desmond will avenge her death? who knows…

LOVED this episode. Absolutely brilliant.
I’m glad Ben didn’t die this episode either (but then again I celebrate every time he survives an episode ;D) though he was pretty bloody. Don’t know what happened to him though. For all I know, he could have died when the plane (maybe) crashed.
Also, I think that it was pretty odd how almost immediately after the moment Ben gets up from his seat and walks to the front of the plane, (after he left Jack to give him some privacy) the plane starts crashing. Where did Ben go to sit anyway?
I am thinking that maybe there is more reason behind Sayid’s arrest. Maybe the woman who was escorting him is another one of Ben’s off-island henchmen? If Ben told her to arrest him on fake charges and transport him to Guam, knowing that that would be the only possible reason that could get Sayid onto the plane, that could make some sense. I’m still not sure though.
I think that the theory about the plane landing safely on the landing strip on the little island where the Hydra was would definitely make a lot of sense (as we know, the writer’s like to slip in tiny clues that seem to be unimportant, but that turn out to be crucial in the end – the landing strip would definitely fit in there, as so far we haven’t been given a clear explanation as to the origin of it’s purpose). I would hate for that to be the case though. I don’t know why. I guess that I don’t really like the thought of Jin and Sun being divided again, after coming so close to their reunion. Also, I thought that the little island was traveling with the big island because it was within the radius of the time-traveling events?
For me, the biggest shock of this episode was the return of Frank Lapidus. Throughout this whole season I was just waiting for him to show up, but by the middle of this episode I had completely forgotten all about him. Miss his beard though. I liked it ;D

I say 3 years because everything we have been seeing on the island up until now has been in the following few hours after the 06 left and the freighter blew up. Now when the returned, they have been gone for 3 years. So that means where we last left off with Charlotte dying, Sawyer holding the rope, etc…

Why is everyone so sure it’s been three years for the island Losties? I think that this show has taught us that we reeeeally can’t count on time behaving normally. Saying Jin has been working for Dharma for 3 years is jumping to conclusions on sooo many levels.
Also, why does Sun not give a second thought to Ji Yeon? She wants to go back to be with Jin but…. they have a daughter! Is she honestly willing to trade one in for the other? Or is her plan to get Jin and then leave again? Still… she seems less than concerned.

yeah everyone thinks its been 3 years but i dont know where they get that, since time traveling is involved i think that its less—
Locke turned the wheel and he got off the island… then he visited some of the people and died a short while right?
that is the time Jin and probably Sawyer and the others have been on the Dharma Initiative. probably like 2 weeks lets presume Locke lived a week and a half so he died and Jack came. and a few days later they got to the island… so yeah about 2 weeks they’ve been on the DI…
but are they still on thr DI times? they all had like a time travel flash…

props to NEMO I love the plane landing on the hydra island theory. That sounds completely legit. I was trying to put it together myself with the ajira water bottles and them intentionaly not showing Sun Ben or Sayid but that theory makes perfect sense.

I am intrigued by the amount of speculation that has evolved from this season. So many questions with few answers,and more questions.
We have:Constants,Proxy’s,Anagrams,Metaphors and the Biblical References.
Carlton and Damon have been an amazing team to keep us on edge. Thats the beauty of this series. I won’t get into specifics on this episode, too much to speculate on.
I do have one theory, Could Ben and Charles be brothers trying to win a game of chess? Who will check mate?
